Newborn fingers grip
Warm, soft skin seeking comfort
From here, I am hooked

  1. I’ve always wondered what it feels like to be a father. I know what it’s like to be a mother, and I was hooked from way before they ever came out of me. (I don’t pretend it’s the same for all mothers though). But to me, it’s like an invisible link that starts right in the middle of my belly.
For a father, I wonder how it feels, during pregnancy, after the baby’s born, when they fly from the nest…

    1. I don’t think there is a universal “mother” or “father” experience. I can tell you how it was/is for me, and that’s it! I did wonder pre-birth (of number one) if I’d bond straight away … and then this happened, and I wondered what I’d ever worried about 🙂

        1. To say it’s “only” emotional doesn’t sound strong enough… but I’m one of those analytical types who thinks physical sensations are just manifestations of emotions and thoughts anyway!

          1. 🙂
            I agree 🙂
And to write it was ’emotional only’ felt weird too 🙂
One day, when you have the time and have found he best way o describe it, I’d love to read about the physicality of this bond 🙂

            1. I’m not sure I’d have the words… Had to laugh though – as I was reading your comment, I was led on the floor, three year old bouncing up and down on my shoulders, laughingly beating me about the head with a cushion… It’s definitely a “physical” bond!

      1. As it was not my lot to be blessed with being able to have children, I appreciate having the opportunity to live vicariously. And a tender, compelling way to describe something I can only imagine. Thank you.
