Haiku – Shower & Play

It seems fitting that my first posted poem on my new site is for Ronovan’s haiku challenge. This weekly challenge has really captured my imagination, and got me hooked on haiku… in April, you’ll be getting daily zombie haiku from me for the A to Z Challenge, as well as me trying to complete the regular weekly challenges. I owe it all to Ronovan! (You can blame him too if you think my stuff sucks. Swings and roundabouts πŸ™‚ )

Anyone else recognise the truth in this one?

Annual routine:
Child showered with Christmas gifts…
Child plays with the box!

  1. Ah yes, universal truth, no matter where you live.
It seems Xmas presents are often given more because it pleases the parent than for the child.
Though I must say there have been a few along the years that were really useful! Until the child knows what they want to ask for. Sigh!
Love the pictures too. The one with the haiku and the one at the top of your blog.

    1. Thanks Dawn. I think my boys have everything they’ll ever need, but don’t have the heart to cancel Christmas and birthdays to prevent an influx of “more stuff”, 90% of which is not needed…

      1. Oh! As I said earlier, it’s not possible to reply from the reader, so we have to connect to your blog directly to reply. But at least we’re aware that there is a comment to reply to in the reader, so that’s good already πŸ˜‰

    1. Am still looking into the reader thing. Not sure I have an answer (I haven’t even got it to stop needing my approval for all comments yet… baby steps!)

    1. Our youngest just had a bathtime tantrum because he couldn’t wear his dinosaur slippers in the bath… still, where would I get half of my material if it wasn’t for them?? πŸ™‚

  2. Congratulations Al! This is wonderful. The only thing I need to figure out is how to get your back into my reader…I think that is possible. Or I will have to remember to come visit your new site. Excellent Haiku, so much truth in that one!. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. I couldn’t sleep last night, so spent the wee small hours googling how to get this site to show in your reader… going to try it this morning. How’s that for service?? πŸ™‚

  3. Happened here all the time! Birthdays, holidays, you name it. The wrapping was always the best part. We ended up with a lot of boxes in the house…

    1. Very true! Sadly our cat is getting older and less inquisitive, but her kitty nature still comes out now and again when the right box is available!
